Social Chair officer

Karl Sutcliffe

Karl’s rugby journey is truly global, beginning in County Tipperary, Ireland, where he honed his skills at Rockwell College and represented Munster Schoolboys. His club career started at Cashel before moving on to the All Ireland League with the renowned Shannon Rugby Club. Post-university, Karl took his talents to the Middle East, captaining Muscat Rugby Club in Oman for five seasons. During his time there, he also tasted success with Bahrain Rugby Club—winning a League and Cup double—and represented the Arabian Gulf in the 2011 Rugby World Cup Qualifiers.

Adventures in Asia followed, where Karl helped found the Kunming Flying Tigers in China and played for Bucks Rugby Club in Singapore. He then spent five seasons with Kowloon Rugby Club in Hong Kong before hanging up his boots. Last season, however, he came out of retirement to join the mighty Quins, proving that a passion for rugby knows no borders—or expiration date.

recruiting, diversity, & community engagement officer

Grayson Houk

**Short Bio: Gray**

Gray grew up in Wamego, Kansas, where he focused on football and wrestling rather than rugby. After high school, he enlisted in the Army, was stationed in Germany—where he met his wife, Sarina—and then moved to Hawaii. His introduction to rugby came through the Quinns Rugby Club, courtesy of an invitation from Club President Tyler. Instantly taken with the sport’s competition and camaraderie, Gray is heading into his second season, eager to learn and improve.

Outside of rugby, Gray splits his time between his Army duties, the gym, gaming, and spending time with Sarina. He plans to leave the Army in August 2025 and likely move off-island, but his passion for rugby will follow him wherever he goes. The Quinns will forever be the team that sparked his love for the game—and taught him everything he knows.

Vice-Captain

Thomas S.R. Heaton

Heaton, a native of Waihi Beach, Aotearoa New Zealand, was born on March 4, 1991, and has always been a natural tighthead prop. Growing up, he played rugby casually but began to take the sport seriously during his high school years. He spent a season with Os Belenenses in Portugal before continuing to play socially through college. After a 10-year break, Heaton reignited his passion for rugby upon moving to Hawaii, where he returned to the field and laced up his boots once again.
