SECRETARY

Blaze Lovell

Blaze has played with the Harlequins since 2023. He was first inspired to get on the rugby field at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) when a member of the team walked into a dorm room party with a crutch under one shoulder and a case of Corona over the other. Blaze played three years for the Rebels, in that time scoring zero tries and coming out with one functioning knee.

treasurer

J.D. Pangelinan

Born and raised on the island of Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands, he grew up with limited exposure to sports beyond baseball and basketball. His first encounter with rugby came only after moving to Oʻahu to pursue higher education at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. In 2022, while out for a jog at Kapiʻolani Park, he happened upon a Harlequins Rugby practice session. Curious yet unfamiliar with the sport, he approached Thomas Heaton, who welcomed him and introduced him to the team. From his very first day, the camaraderie, brotherhood, and sense of community he experienced-both during practice and afterward-left a lasting impression, inspiring him to continue on his rugby journey.

Social Chair officer

Karl Sutcliffe

Karl’s rugby journey is truly global, beginning in County Tipperary, Ireland, where he honed his skills at Rockwell College and represented Munster Schoolboys. His club career started at Cashel before moving on to the All Ireland League with the renowned Shannon Rugby Club. Post-university, Karl took his talents to the Middle East, captaining Muscat Rugby Club in Oman for five seasons. During his time there, he also tasted success with Bahrain Rugby Club—winning a League and Cup double—and represented the Arabian Gulf in the 2011 Rugby World Cup Qualifiers.

Adventures in Asia followed, where Karl helped found the Kunming Flying Tigers in China and played for Bucks Rugby Club in Singapore. He then spent five seasons with Kowloon Rugby Club in Hong Kong before hanging up his boots. Last season, however, he came out of retirement to join the mighty Quins, proving that a passion for rugby knows no borders—or expiration date.

recruiting, diversity, & community engagement officer

Adam Lemire

Adam has established himself as a committed Harelquin for over 20 years. Now an old boy with experience as a player, coach and former sponsor, he now has stepped into an officer position. Adam’s rugby roots were planted in his motherland of Canada where in grade school the game was taught early and success as a provincial finalist transitioned into winning years for the legendary Kamloops Raiders Rugby Club- who recently celebrated 50 years. Fortune found Adam with a chance to travel to the Cayman Islands next and enjoy Caribbean culture for 5 years. The CRFU, another 50 year old club was a breeding ground loaded with international talent. This helped define the level of his game leading to his lone international Cap against Jamaica in 2003. Unfortunately Hurricane Ivan in 2004 devastated the island and changed his life travelling to the USA for a whirlwind next few years. As a dual American citizen the opportunity to move to Hawaii was celebrated with first playing for the Harlequins in 2004. Next some former team members and a tour to the infamous Missoula Maggotfest had opened up a lucky selection to join the Las Vegas Blackjacks in their National Championship run season of 2007. This sprung tryouts for both nations to be included in the Pacific Nations Cup which ended unsuccessfully and unfortunately with injuries that would knock the playing boots off Adam- Limiting his ability to play back in Hawaii 2010. However new opportunities meant more travel opting to go Yachting and Gold Mining left a long gap and large hunger to be back involved with Rugby upon his return to Hawaii in 2019. Now you can find Adam supporting the club from the sidelines locally or managing the team on tour recently in Alaska for the midnight 7’s. Adam gives back to the sport that he loves by attending training, social events, recruiting and fundraising in an effort to grow the game in our local community.

A retired Captain of the Chilean National Police and a globally recognized forensic expert, Carlos holds a Doctorate in Forensic Sciences and multiple master’s degrees, including Educational Management and Forensic & Legal Medicine.
