HHRFC 2025 vision - The house that Jack Built

The new Hawaii Harlequins RFC leadership draws inspiration from the legacy of greats like Jack Keenan, Bob Hampton, and Brian O’Neil in the 60's, who laid the club’s foundations. In the 70s, Ron Watson used his marketing and organizational genius to launch the PanAm International Rugby Tournament, putting the club on the global stage. For the past four decades, Cormac O’Carroll has been a steadfast champion, guiding the club through its highs and lows. Together, these five men represent over a thousand players who’ve proudly worn the 1st and 2nd XV jerseys over the past 60 years.

As the 2025 season approaches, the club’s leaders and members are driven by this legacy, ready to forge a bright future. This is their vision:

Hawaii Harlequins RFC 2025 Vision Statement:
From the heart and united as 'Ohana, we embrace the spirit of Aloha to lead with humility, integrity, and passion. Honoring our legacy as Hawaii's oldest rugby club and the founders of the Hawaii Rugby Football Union, we recognize that we can accomplish anything if we put in the work.
Resilient, gritty, and tenacious—we are a team for anyone and everyone. Guided by the Hawaii Harlequins' legacy of excellence and teamwork, we embrace Kuleana (responsibility) to empower each other and continuously improve.

We strive to transform into a true brotherhood (and eventually sisterhood), a rugby 'Ohana where everyone supports one another and holds themselves accountable. Aspiring to be a home and a pillar for our community, we Malama (care for) our people and environment, pursuing Pono (righteousness and balance) in all we do.
Committed to our values of integrity, authenticity, and empathy, we aim to field competitive teams, become a leading club in the HRFU, and set the standard for others. Together, we will build upon the foundation laid by those who came before us—not only protecting the Hawaii Harlequin legacy but improving it, leaving it better than we received it and inspiring future generations of Harlequins.
